At the end of 2018, as I was listening to Kelsey Murphy’s Whiskey & Work podcast, I made a strong connection to the voice on the other end whose story resonated with me. I was compelled to reach out to Alyssa. This is definitely not a typical Mahsa move, but when your intuition is calling, you get out of your own way!
I started following Alyssa on Instagram and if you’re not already following her, please do so! Her page is full of love, light, joy, gratitude and wisdom.
During this time, I was also working on the largest and most prestigious Saga Interiors project to date, inside 181 Fremont, San Francisco’s newest and chicest luxury skyscraper, which also happens to house Facebook and Instagram!
I knew I needed Alyssa’s magic on this project.
I reached out to her once again and this time asked if she would consider working with me, and to my gracious surprise, she replied yes!
Six months later, on August 21st, we finally met, and the connection was instant. Her personality shined just as brightly in real life as it had online.
Here I was, standing in a building full of creativity and innovation, about to embark on a two-day journey with one of the best to do it!
Can you feel my excitement through your screen?
We did the pre-shoot walk through, I was given some homework and since I’ve always been an “A” student, I got to work prepping the space to perfection for our shoot the following day.
That night, I went to sleep with this indescribable energy despite the exhaustion. The next morning, I picked up fresh flowers and headed straight to 181 Fremont to meet Alyssa, alternatively known as the most blissful morning a designer could have.
Alyssa is a force to be reckoned with! She worked nonstop from 9:30am to 8pm, only taking breaks when I lovingly nudged her to do so.
As I got to know Alyssa, she felt like a longtime friend as opposed to the photographer I only met the day before. She left a big mark on my heart and I cannot express how grateful I am that she agreed to collaborate with me on this project, and grateful for following my heart to reach out to her. As the famous saying goes, “You only miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. I took my shot and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made, right up there with my greatest creation, my son, and Saga Interiors! And now, the grind continues to create more dreamy spaces that will be captured through Alyssa’s magical eyes and meticulous attention to detail. Have you ever gone against your logic and followed your intuition instead? I’d love to hear your story in the comments below!
